Establishing our new Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Hong Kong is a deliberate step to strengthen our regional leadership in this zone and localise Egis’s service offering that can serve a mature market renowned worldwide for design and engineering excellence and highly efficient infrastructure operation.
Although our regional headquarters only opened in September 2021, Egis has already made considerable contributions to the city and its residents, reflecting our core capabilities in smart and complex infrastructure and our vision for sustainable territorial transformation. With our partners, we have provided technical consultancy and engineering services on procurement, design, safety assessment, cutover and transition of new and upgraded/replaced air navigation system equipment. For Hong Kong International Airport’s plan to develop into a three-runway system, we provided the Civil Aviation Department with on-site technical support and assistance during installation, integration, testing, commissioning cutover, transition and decommissioning.
These infrastructure services help Hong Kong maintain its status as Asia’s “world city”. Egis also cares about improving the living environment of Hong Kong residents as the city searches for solutions to longstanding housing challenges. For example, we contributed to the development of the Lantau Tomorrow Vision, an aspirational project led by the Hong Kong SAR Government to develop land for housing and public amenities through sea reclamation while protecting the city’s fragile coastal environment.
Moreover, through its strategic acquisitions Egis is refining its architectural design, engineering and planning capabilities that will add to the existing architecture, façade, planning and consulting offerings of 10 Design and Inhabit, both recent additions to the Egis Group with deep local roots in Hong Kong.
We find three benefits in acquiring capabilities in Hong Kong in the fields of building, transportation, energy and environment, and operation & maintenance. Firstly, we offer a new choice of collaboration in one of the most advanced infrastructure markets locally. Secondly, we connect knowledge to the world from this international Asia-Pacific hub. Finally, Hong Kong acts as a stepping stone to mainland China, the world’s second largest economy with infrastructural ambitions both at home and abroad.
