Overview:

Cost Engineering is performed after the establishment of the Project Budget and is the process used to control the costs within this estimated cost. This approach utilizes a continuous review and refinement process of contract packaging and cost control tools to ensure the project is completed within the budget.

Utilize a systematic approach to monitor and control the Project Costs in accordance with the established budget after the design has been finalized. This requires management tools and expertise to identify potential cost overruns and take corrective action to maintain the project parameters.

Scope of Services

The Cost Engineering services provide the link between the awarded contracts and the cost estimated quantity surveys. This link gives the contract administrator the necessary tools to control and report on the cost at regular intervals as required by the project. The services would include:

. Review of the established Project Budget
. Review and give advice for the tender packaging and procurement strategies.
. Establishment of the Cost Control Budget Categories and associated breakdowns and back-up.
. Implementation of a Cost Control System utilizing computerized software compatible with
  the project.
. Attend regular meetings with the Construction Management Team to review and give advice on
  the current status of the project costs.
. Identify potential cost overruns and variation orders.
. Advise corrective action and assistance to implement the required variations.
